Search Engine Optimization Tips

Misconceptions about search engine optimization are common. The one most new online businesses fall into is that they think once there site has been created, the traffic will begin immediately. Sorry folks, that won't help in your SEO Target Marketing needs. You have to put in a little more effort into building your online presence other than simply putting up a website.

When you submit to the search engines your website, you think the site immediately becomes active in that site... Right? Wrong! Here is the number one tip I can give you right now about submitting to search engines - Don't! Its a waist of your time and time is money. Here's what you do:

SEO Target Marketing Tip #1

1. Go to Google search and type in your keyword phrase
2. Click on the top ranked website for that search
3. Find there blog or better still a forum
4. If blog - post a comment | If forum - sign up and help someone using your link in the signature box.
5. Repeat this process for each of the sites listed on the first page of your search.

This little trick will only take you an hour at most and will have your site spidered by the search engine robots in little more than a day or two. If your keyword is highly targeted, then I suggest you go a little more generic in your search criteria.

Let's say that your keyword phrase is between 4-6 words (which is great because that's the sweet money spot). You type it into Google and come up with a site that only has a page rank 0. This really isn't going to help you at all. You need to find a site that Google deems an authority in that niche market. They will usually have a rank of 5-10. Anything above page rank 7 is usually impossible for a new site to get a backlink from as they know that zero ranked pages hurt there site.

Anyway, if your keyword is between 4-6, then I suggest you cut it in half and go for a keyword phrase between two and three. Most sites nowadays have either a blog attached to the site or they have a forum. You can use either one to post a comment that has a link pointing back to your site. If that site is ranked anywhere between 5-10, you can bet the robots are spidering there site daily.

SEO Target Marketing Tip #3

1. Title the page with the keyword your targeting.
2. Provide a description tag that is no more than 160-180 words and is relevant to the page. Use the primary keyword as well!

3. Use your keyword phrase four times for every 450 words on the page.
